On November 28, 2022, Yuma Takeuchi, a Japanese volunteer, a member of the YOUwe volunteer organization, and the head of the project supporting Ukrainian student artists, gave a lecture on the topic «Reconstruction begins during wartime» in the Student Space «III floor», Lviv Polytechnic National University. The translation was carried out by Ihor Zorii, head of the Ukrainian-Japanese Center at the Scientific and Technical Library, Lviv Polytechnic.

Not only faculty, students and employees of the University, but a wide range of interested citizens attended the lecture. Among those present there were representatives of Lviv Art Palace, who recently visited Scientific and Technical Library.

Yuma Takeuchi told how, returning to Japan after his first visit to Ukraine, he organized the first exhibition of paintings brought from Ukraine:

– Many people looked at the paintings with great interest. They asked about the war. We have a burning desire to support you. And I wondered: how to turn the sympathy of the Japanese into constant support? I was looking for ideas and support for my projects.

One of those who joined Yuma Takeuchi’s project was the artist Wa Moto, who lives and works in Tokyo.

It is worth noting that the Japanese guest started and ended the lecture in Ukrainian, and then he willingly answered the questions of the audience.

After the lecture, Yuma Takeuchi, accompanied by Ihor Zorii, visited the main building of Lviv Polytechnic and visited the University Center for International Education. There also was a meeting with Professor Nataliya Hots, head of the CIE, Doctor of Science, during which they discussed the issue of possible cooperation with the Japanese side and the possibility of participation in joint projects.

At the end of his visit to Lviv Polytechnic, Mr. Takeuchi visited the Assembly Hall of the main building of the University and expressed his sincere admiration for what he saw.

We hope that our relations with Japan will expand and strengthen in the future!
