Anatoly Ivchenko
was born on March
8, 1953
in Kharkiv. In 1979 graduated from Kharkiv Gorky State University (Philological department). After
graduation worked as a researcher in Kharkiv Gorky
State University (1884–1990), a senior lecturer at Ukrainian Linguistics
Department of Kharkiv State Teachers Training
University (1990–1991), a docent (an associate professor) at Ukrainian and
Slavonic Linguistics Deparetment of Kharkiv State University of Agricultural Technology
(1991–1996), the Head of Ukrainian Studies Department of Kharkiv
Institute of Humanities (1996–1999), a Full Professor at Ukrainian
Linguistics Department of Maria Sklodowska-Curie
University in Lublin, Poland (1999–2000), a docent (
an associate professor) at Literature Department of Kharkiv
State Academy of Culture (1999–2001), the Head of Linguistics Department at Lviv Institute of Fire Safety (2001–2004), a docent at
Applied Linguistics Department of L'viv Stavropigion University. From January 2005 works as a TC
STTS Secretary.
In 1987 in Leningrad, Russia, defended
Candidate’s dissertation “Idiographic and distributional description of Upper
Serbian language phraseology”. A docent title was obtained in 1994. Now he is
working at Doctor’s thesis “Ukrainian Vernacular Phraseology: Onomasiology, Areals,
Etymology”.
Author of more than 100 scientific works on
Slavonic phraseology, lexicography and bibliography. Among them –
16 books and
8 dictionaries of different types (explanatory, translation, phraseology,
orthography etc.), published in Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Slovakia. Member of
Slavonic Phraseology Board, a member of Proceedings “The
Problems of Ukrainian Terminology” and “Kharkiv
Historical and Philological Society Proceedings” editorial boards, Chairman of
the board of Kharkiv Historical and Philological
Society (1991–1999), a member of the Bureau of International Association of
Ukrainian Scholars (1993–1999).
