Admission to the Department of Architecture

13. Those applicants sponsored by either physical or legal
entities, who graduated from the higher educational establishments
of the P1 and 2"(l levels of accreditation and attained educational
and qualification level of a Junior Expert with a major in the
corresponding fields of study, approved by the University, have
an opportunity to apply for accelerated training for a Bachelor's
Degree. Applications are accepted in the periods from January
22 to February 3, and from June 20 to July 8. Entrance examinations
are held until March 31 and July 30, accordingly. Applications
are accepted, and professional training is provided in accordance
with the Regulations on Syllabus for Accelerated Educational and
Professional Training for the Bachelor's Degree.
In some cases admission for accelerated training is held within
the terms stipulated by the Admission Board.
14. The Department -of Architecture offers professional
re-training courses for a Bachelor's Degree or an Expert's Diploma
(attaining second Degree for the graduates of the higher educational
establishments of the 3ld and 4lh levels of accreditation), as
well as professional training for the graduates of the higher
educational establishments of the 1st and 2"d levels of accreditation
or higher professional-technical educational establishments, if
they are sponsored by either physical or legal entities.
According to the Clause N"12, the applications are accepted
in the periods from February 20 to April 25, and June 20 to September
10. The entrance examinations are held until April 30 and September
15, accordingly. The graduates of the higher educational establishments
of the 3rd and the 4th level of accreditation are interviewed;
and the graduates of the higher educational establishments of
the 1st and the 2nd level of accreditation are interviewed and
tested. The interview-test is held for one day, and includes the
following disciplines:
For the Sub-Department
of Architecture: Drawing, Mathematics and the Ukrainian Language;
For the Sub-Department
of Arts - Drawing, Painting and the Ukrainian
Language.
The results of the interview-test are assessed based on 60-point
system. Positive result totals 10 points.
In some cases admission is held within the terms stipulated by
the Admission Board, and the classes start after enrolment is
complete.
15. Those applicants sponsored by the national budget according
to the Decree "On Providing Education for Rural Areas"
№ 1159 as of 29.06.1999 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine
as per the original quotas have to submit guidelines issued by
the corresponding government bodies of the Council of Ministers
of the Crimea Autonomous Republic, regional or Kyiv and Sevastopol
Municipal Government, ministries and other national executive
bodies, businesses and institutions that concluded agreement with
the University according to the Ukrainian Law "On the Civic
Status and Social Security for Those Who Suffered the Consequences
of Chernobyl Disaster", edited on 19.12.1991, with amendments
and additions as of 01.07.1992 and 06.06.1996 (for the persons
associated with the 3rd and 41'1 categories ).
16. The admission to the Department of Architecture is
held based on the competition, regardless of the financial support,
upon the results of testing in the form of: entrance examinations,
interview, interview-test and final examinations.
17. Admission to the Department upon the results of an
interview:
a) For the applicants, who graduated from the educational
establishments with honours (magna cum laude) associated with
the l st and 2 nd categories as per the Ukrainian Law "On
the Civic Status and Social Security for Those Who Suffered the
Consequences of Chernobyl Disaster" (edited on 19.12.1991
with amendments and additions as of 01.07.1992 and 06.06.1996).
b) The applicants, prize-winners of the 3rd stage of the
All-Ukrainian Scientific Research Conference for the Members of
the Small Academy of Sciences with a major in the offered fields
of study, who chose corresponding area of expertise. The Admission
Board of the University defines correlation of the area of expertise.
c) Prize-winners of the 3rd stage of the All-Ukrainian
(either regional, as in Crimea Autonomous Republic, or national,
or municipal, as in Kyiv or Sevastopol) Competitions of Professional
Skills in specific disciplines for undergraduates of the professional-technical
educational establishments, if they chose corresponding field
of study and can submit educational certificates certifying their
final grades above average ("Good" and "Excellent").
d) Prize-winners of the 3rd stage of the All-Ukrainian
(either regional, as in Crimea Autonomous Republic, or national,
or municipal, as in Kyiv or Sevastopol) Students' Academic Olympic
Games with a major in one of the fields of study, if they apply
for a corresponding sub-department, who would have to pass examination
in major, in which they won the prize at the above-named academic
Olympic games, and hold educational certificates certifying that
their final above average ("Good" and "Excellent")
("7" -"12" points accordingly for the graduates
of the comprehensive secondary schools).
e) Prize-winners of the scientific-research conferences,
members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and prize-winners
of the regional and regional academic Olympic games for the high
(comprehensive secondary)
school students with a major approved by the "Lviv Polytechnic",
in case the chose the corresponding Held of study and submit documents
certifying their grades above average ("7" - "12"
points for the graduates of the high (comprehensive secondary
education) schools). The Admission Hoard defines correlation of
the area of expertise.
18. Clauses 16 and 17 are valid for those applicants that
participated or won academic Olympic games or academic competitions
held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, who
in the academic year 200/2001 were either the students of grades
11-12 of the high school, or the undergraduate students of the
professional-technical educational establishments, who apply for
admission on the basis of the complete comprehensive secondary
education. Clause 18 is valid for the following fields of studies:
"Architecture"
and "Arts" with the registered field of expertise in
Drawing.
19. The following entrance examinations arc held according
to the field of study:
For the Sub-Department
of Architecture: Drawing, Technical Drafting, Mathematics (Written
Examination), Ukrainian Language (Dictation);
For the Sub-Department
of Arts; Drawing, Painting, Composition,
Ukrainian Language (Dictation).
The outline of entrance examinations in Drawing, Painting and
Composition were developed by the University and approved by the
Rector of the University. For those applicants who did not study
the Ukrainian Language, the Admission Board can establish examination
(dictation) in the language indicated in the education certificate.
20. All the entrance examinations are competitive. The
entrance examination in the Ukrainian Language (Dictation) is
assessed based on the 30-point system (30-28 points - Excellent,
27-18 points - Good, 17-6 points - Satisfactory, 5-0 points Poor).
The entrance examinations in other disciplines arc assessed based
on 60-point system (60-56 points - Excellent, 55-36 points - Good,
35-10 points -Satisfactory, 9-0 points - Poor).
21. Those graduates of high schools who were awarded golden
or silver medal, as well as the graduates of the higher professional-technical
educational establishments of the 1st and 2nd levels of accreditation
who graduated with honours (unless admitted based on interview-test)
have to pass entrance examinations in the following fields of
study:
Drawing - for the Sub-Departments of Architecture and Arts. If
they score 56 or more points in major, they do not have to pass
further examinations, and are admitted to the University. If they
score less than 56 points on the entrance examinations in major,
they have to pass further examinations according to the general
rules on admission.
22. The Admission Board reckons the results of final examinations
of the graduates of the Career Planning Center at the University
towards the entrance examinations. By the decision of the Admission
Board, the graduates of the Career Planning Center, including
those who took preparatory course, participate in the general
competition for admission to the Sub-Departments of Architecture
and Arts in case they scored a minimum of 150 points (50% of the
maximum total points awarded). Admission points are determined
based on competition.
23. Graduates of the Career Planning Center, including
those who took preparatory course, among those who graduated from
the high (comprehensive secondary) school with golden or silver
medal or those who graduated from the higher educational establishments
of the l st and 2 nd levels of accreditation or higher professional-technical
educational establishments, who successfully passed entrance examinations,
but were not accepted by the University (based on competition),
according to Clause 21 have an opportunity to participate in the
general competition for the field of study pre-determined by the
Admission Board, and be admitted by the University based on the
result of one examination, in case they scored 56 or more points
at the entrance examination in the chosen field.
24. Students of the preparatory department, who passed
examinations in all disciplines and scored a minimum of 105 points
(50% of the maximum total points), who have chosen the filed of
Architecture or Arts, can be recommended for admission by the
Admission Board based on average rating to the pre-determined
sub-departments according to availability.
25. Graduates of the academic gymnasiums (the 1st Lviv,
Drohobych, Sokolsk), Lyceum (Yavorivski Area), School of Natural
History and Ecology (Village Vuzlovem Radehivski Area) and comprehensive
secondary schools N?1 in the Town of Skole and № 4 in the Town
of Husta at the National University "Lviv Polytechnic"
can be recommended for admission by the decision of the Admission
Board, based on the competition, to the Sub-Departments of Architecture
and Arts, in case they scored a minimum of 105 points (50% of
the maximum total points) during their final examinations, and
were recommended by the Pedagogical Council of the Gymnasium,
Lyceum or School.
26. Foreign students can be admitted based on the following
principles:
International agreements
with Ukraine;
National predetermination;
Agreements concluded
between the University and either legal or physical
entities.
Foreign students have to submit the following documents: specific
application, photocopy of the previous educational certificate
and transcript of grades; medical certificate with the result
of examination for HlV-infection, unless otherwise stipulated
in the international agreement; general medical certificate approved
by the official health care system of Ukraine issued not more
than two months prior to arrival to Ukraine; insurance certificate,
including coverage for emergency medical care; photocopy of the
Birth Certificate; six photos, 6x4 cm; opened-date return ticket
valid for at least one year.
Foreigners can be admitted to the University based on the results
of the interview and on the grounds of the agreement.
