Admission to the Department of Architecture

1. The Department of Architecture of the National University
"Lviv Polytechnic" admits citizens of Ukraine and other
countries, as well as those who do not have citizenship, permanently
residing in Ukraine.
To be admitted as a first-year student, one is required either
to have an official high school (complete comprehensive secondary
education) certificate, or an official certificate qualifying
one as a junior expert. In order to be admitted for further years
of education, one is required to have either an official academic
certificate certifying the studies at the higher educational establishment
on the 2ml-3rd level of accreditation, or an official diploma
certifying obtaining higher education and the qualification of
either a Bachelor or an Expert.
2. The students are admitted in accordance with the Regulations
on Educational and Qualification Stages (gradual education) approved
by the Decree N°65 as of 20.01.1998 of the Cabinet of Ministers
of Ukraine.
The Department of Architecture provides education based on the
following educational and qualification stages: Bachelor, Expert
and Master. The courses for an Expert or a Master can be taken
by those who successfully graduated with a Bachelor's diploma.
The syllabus and term of studies on all stages are based on the
general national standards. Options: full-time or extra-mural
studies.
3. Admission Board co-ordinates the process of admission.
The members of the Board are appointed by the Decree of the Rector.
The activities of the Board are regulated by the Regulations on
Admission Boards of the Higher Educational Establishments in Ukraine,
approved by the Decree Ns 49 as of 01.03.1995 of the Ministry
of Education of Ukraine, registered with the Ministry of Justice
of Ukraine under the number 99/635 as of 10.04.1995. The Rector
of the University manages the Board. The proceedings of the Admission
Board are restricted by the Ukrainian active legislation and the
terms of admission to the higher educational establishments of
Ukraine, approved by the Decree "On Endorsement of"
the Terms of Admission to the Higher Educational Establishments
of Ukraine" Ny74 as of 19.02.2001 of the Ministry of Education
and Science of Ukraine. In the course of admission, the University
ensures that the Admission Board adheres to the rules of civil
rights for education established by the Ukrainian Law, discretion
and publicity, as well as impartial assessment of applicants'
abilities and potential.
5. The process of professional training for foreign students
and those who do not have citizenship is governed by the Ukrainian
Law "On Aliens' Legal Status", the Decree "On Education
for Aliens in Ukraine" № 136 as of 26.02.1993 of the Cabinet
of Ministers of Ukraine, the Decree "On Developing Economic
Co-operation between the Ukrainian Territories and Neighbouring
Territories of the Russian Federation" JN" 112/94 as
of 25.03.1994 of the President of Ukraine and Regulations on Admission
of Aliens and Those Who Do Not Have Citizenship to the Higher
Educational Establishments approved by the Decree № 1238 as of
05.08.1998 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Those aliens
who were granted national scholarships as per international agreements,
national predetermination or other international commitments of
Ukraine, can be admitted by the University on the grounds of being
assigned by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine based
on the official quota.
Aliens with the Ukrainian ethnic background, who were assigned
to study at the University by one of the officially registered
Ukrainian National and Cultural Societies, applying for admission
to the Sub-Department of "Arts" enjoy the same rights
for as the citizens of Ukraine.
Aliens with the Ukrainian ethnic background, applying for admission
to the Sub-Department of "Architecture", enjoy the same
rights as the citizens of Ukraine only if they participated in
the international academic Olympic games in "Drawing".
6. Exercising the provisions of the Decree "On Providing
Education for Rural Areas" N" 1159 as of 29.06.1999
of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a certain number of students
from the countryside are being admitted based on the official
quota.
Ministry of Education and Science issues annual quotas for each
academic year of students from the countryside to be admitted
by the University. The admission of students by each Department
and Sub-Department should not exceed 25% of the official quota.
7. The Department obtains financial support from the following
sources:
State budget of Ukraine,
national budget of the Crimea Autonomous Republic and local budgets
as per official quota;
Beneficial long-term
loans;
Financial support
provided by legal entities;
Financial support
provided by physical entities.
8. Citizens of Ukraine exercise equal rights to attain
education on the following levels: Bachelor, Expert, Master at
the Department of Architecture, regardless of their sex, race,
ethnic origin or social background; current occupation; ideological,
political or religious beliefs; residence or any other status.
Citizens of Ukraine enjoy the guarantee of attaining higher education
on all educational and qualification levels at the Department
of Architecture based on the competitive selection at the cost
of the national budget according to requirements of national standards,
in case it is their first higher education on the consequent level.
The guarantee extends to those citizens of Ukraine who experience
continuous disability to work according to the previously attained
education and qualification level. The above-named individuals
have to submit the official certificate issued by the board of
medical and social security experts together with the application.
According to the Regulations on Final State Assessment of the
Students (High School Graduates) within the Systems of Comprehensive
Secondary Education,
approved by Ihc Decree N<> 588 as of 14,12.2000 of the Ministry
of education and Science of Ukraine, registered with the Ministry
of" Justice of Ukraine under the number: 925/5146 as of 19.12.2000,
the University is authorised to perform independent assessment
of the high school graduates based on the complete high school
course outline.
9. The Department of Architecture provides education in
the following fields of study and areas of expertise:

10. Applications for the full-time studies arc accepted
in the period from June 20 to July 8; entrance examinations are
held since July 9. The admission for the full-time studies continues
until August 1.
11. Applications for the extra-mural studies are accepted
in the periods from January 22 to February 3, and June 20 to July
15. Entrance examinations are held until February 5 and July 25,
accordingly.
The admission for extra-mural studies continues until March 1
and August 30, accordingly. The admission is held in accordance
with the Regulations on Organising Extra-Mural Studies at the
Higher Educational establishments, approved by the Decree Na340
as of 08.12.1995 of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, registered
with the Department of Justice of Ukraine under the number: 1/1026
as of 03.01.1996. In some cases admission for extra-mural studies
is held within the terms stipulated by the Admission Board.
The process of professional training is governed by the agreement
concluded between the University and citizens, businesses or institutions
that provide financial support as either legal or physical entities.
12. Applicants should submit an application for admission
to the University addressed to the Rector, indicating the desired
Department, field of study, area of expertise and major, and selecting
either full-time or extra-mural option. They also accept understanding
the Rules of Admission by personal signature. The following documents
have to be submitted together with the application:
An original or notarised
photocopy (notarised either by the Admission Board of the University,
or by a Notary Public) of the official high (complete comprehensive
secondary education) school certificate (an official certificate
certifying the attained level of professional training, or an
official certificate certifying basic comprehensive secondary
education);
Medical certificate
(Form 086-Y);
Six photos, 3x4 cm;
Official documents
certifying privileges, stipulated by the Ukrainian Law.
Passport (or Birth Certificate for minors), Military Identification
(certifying registration with the enlistment office), original
of the educational certificate (in case the applicant wants to
submit a photocopy) has to be presented personally. Those applicants
who apply for admission with several higher educational establishments,
have to submit their original educational certificate to the Admission
Board of the University within five days after completing entrance
examinations, and after the names of those recommended for admission
by the official quota, as well as those who obtained beneficial
long-term loans were announced. The University will retain the
original educational certificate until the admitted applicant
graduates from the University.
Those applicants who fail to submit the original educational certificate
within the stipulated (five days) term cannot be admitted at the
account of either those indicated in the official quota or those
who obtained beneficial long-term loans
