Structure of the Department

Currently the Department of Architecture includes five Chairs:

Practical training classes and scientific wok is held in the
following four laboratories:
1. Laboratory of Construction Physics.
2. Laboratory of the Science of Architectural and Supply Materials.
3. Scientific-Research Laboratory № 106.
4. Research and Design Laboratory
Scientific-Methodical Library.
International School of Church Architecture
was opened within the Department.
The Chairs that provide narrow education offer education for Architects
and Designers with two majors in Architecture and Arts.
The following fields can be chosen (for a Bachelor's Degree):
Architecture of Buildings
and Structures
Town Planning
Designing Architectural
Environment
Design (Arts)
The following fields can be chosen (for a Master's (Expert's)
Degree):
Architecture of Buildings
and Structures (with an area of expertise in Reconstruction and
Restoration of Architectural Complexes)
Town Planning (with
an area of expertise in Landscape Architecture)
The program of study for a Bachelor's Degree is four years long,
and comprises humanities, natural history, science, architecture
and arts, as well as qualification courses.
The program of study for a Master's Degree and Experts encompasses
comprehensive disciplines for all the areas of expertise in the
field of Architecture, as well as major disciplines in the area
of expertise. The program lasts for one year and 4 months. The
structure and syllabus are very similar to those established by
the well-known Schools of Architecture in Europe, USA and Canada.
Every year the University admits new students three groups of
students, 20-25 students each, majoring in Architecture; and 15
students majoring in Arts. 540 students study at the Department
of Architecture in the academic year 2000-2001.
The Faculty consists of 97 lecturers, including:
7 Professors;
33 Assistant Professors;
35 Senior Lecturers;
22 Assistant Lecturers.
Information about the Dean's Office:
The Department Dean (B.S. Cherkcs, Professor, Candidate of Sciences
in Architecture), two assistants (A.P. Pavliv, Candidate of Technical
Sciences and R.A. Rudyk, Senior Lecturer), Methodologist and two
Inspectors work at the Dean's Office providing the necessary conditions
for educational, methodological, scientific and cultural activities
of the Department.
