Brief
information about the Chair

The
Chair of History and Artistic Fundamentals of Architecture offers
comprehensive courses for students of the Department of Architecture.
Basic courses offered by the Chair include architectural design
and composition for the 1st year students of the Department of
Architecture, History of Architecture and Town Planning, Drawing,
Painting and Sculpture.
    Academic goal of the Chair is to teach architectural
heritage and significance of artistic disciplines for the development
of architect's creative thinking.
   One branch of the Chair offers professional
training with a major in Arts, that in the year 2000 accepted
the third enrollment of students.
    The Chair of the History and Artistic Fundamentals
of Architecture conduct scientific research in the fields of the
history of architecture and arts; organizes practical training
courses in architectural measurements of historical buildings,
including those with participation of the students of the architectural
schools in Poland, Austria and Germany; organizes and participates
in exhibitions and competitions of creative works of art; maintains
dynamic relations with architectural educational establishments
in the Central Eastern Europe.
   The lecturers of the Chair conduct scientific
research work and professional creative activities.

Course Outline for the
Bachelor's Degree with a Major in Architecture
Architectural Design.
1st Semester. Graphic exercises for drawing a variety of lines
and conjunctions in Indian ink, architectural print, drawing elements
of classic architecture (Roman orders, arcade and portico), mastering
the techniques of reproducing volume by means of toning. (1st
Semester, 75 hours of practical training).
2nd Semester. Orders composition, reproducing entourage and stallage,
completing project of improvements of the restricted area following
the requirements of the graphic design for the architectural project.

History of Arts
Brief introduction into the European artistic heritage starting
from ancient times to the 20th century, including the art of the
Ancient World, traditional art, art of the Middle Ages, Renascence,
Western European art of the 17th-20th centuries (1st Semester

History of Architecture and Town Planning
2nd Semester. Architecture of the Ancient World (Egypt, Country
between the Rivers, Iran) and Traditional Art (Greece, Rome),
Byzantine Empire, Arabic Caliphate, Muslim East and Eastern Asian
countries; Architecture of the Middle Ages in Western Europe (2nd

3rd Semester. Architecture of Renascence and its peculiarities
in different European countries, architecture of Baroque in the

4th Semester. Architecture of European countries in the 17th -
middle of the 19th century (Classicism, Empire), end of the 19th
century (various trends of historical method, romanticism), and
the beginning of the 20th century (modern, constructivism, functionalism)

6th Semester. History of architecture in Ukraine staring from

History of Modern Architecture
Architecture of Europe and the World in the end of the 19th and
in the 20th centuries, forming modern architecture development
trends; analyzing creative activities of the prominent architects
of the 20th century, modern trends of the world architecture.

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture
1st Semester. Drawing - still life with gradually complicated
shapes of objects, their lighting and techniques of drawing. 3-D
geometrical shapes, consumer articles, architectural parts.
Sculpture - simple architectural parts and still life performed
in clay in the form of a bas-relief on a surface. (1st Semester,
75 hours of practical training).
2nd Semester. Drawing - fragments of interior, studios of clay
skull and ancient head, life sketches of natural objects.
Sculpture - clay bas-reliefs - copies of the mask and head of
ancient sculpture, life model portrait using high relief technique.(2nd
Semester - 60 hours of practical training).
3rd Semester. Drawing - architectural objects, studio of clay
head (anatomic head and head of the sculpture of the period of
Renascence), life model portrait. Painting - still life with different
types of color spectrums and with different lighting. (3rd Semester
- 60 hours of practical training).
4th Semester. Drawing - portrait using the techniques of light
and shades and linear drawing, studio of clay impressions of the
human hand and foot, sketches of architectural motives.
Painting - complicated still life in the contrast and integrated
color spectrums. (4th Semester - 90 hours of practical training).
5th Semester. Drawing - architectural objects, studio of clay
torso, sketches of the life model's part of the body.
Painting - fragment of an interior, part of the human body. (5th
Semester - 60 hours of practical training).
6th Semester. Drawing - light and shade drawings and brief sketches
of the life model human body, life sketches of the architectural
fragments. Painting - part of the human body in the national costume
against an active background, complicated still life in contrast

7th Semester. Drawing - architectural ensemble in the original
graphic techniques, brief sketches of the life model body, light
and shade drawing of a man's body. Painting - historical architectural

body against interior, in decorative interpretation.

2nd Semester. Compositions formed on the grounds of the module
for plane and 3-D-spatial structures. Improving graphic techniques

on samples of specific letters or phrases, connecting prints with
