Sub-department of arts

Computer Graphic Arts
Main goal - to master means of finding creative solution for the
project using 2-D and 3-D computer graphic software.
Fundamentals of programming. Functional fundamentals of basic
shell programs Windows, OS, Net Work, Internet. Mastering means
of graphic presentation and text boxes using editors and 2-D vector-graphics
software. (7th Semester - 74 hours of practical training, final
test).
Computer Graphics
Means of graphic presentation of 2-D raster software. 3-D modeling
software. Animation. Complex applications of 2-D and 3-D graphic
software tools. (8th Semester - 78 hours of practical training,
final test).
Designing Manufactured Goods
Complex course including introduction to basic principles of the
methods of designing manufactured goods (their categories, process
of creating an article, means of achieving design goals). Besides,
it offers introduction into the method of designing an "individual
article" using techniques of complex design.
The course includes theoretical and practical training classes.
Theoretical part of the course includes a series of lectures,
where the student gradually becomes familiar with the issues of
designing manufactured goods and finding creative solutions. In
the course of practical training students learn to apply in practice
acquired knowledge and skills.
5th Semester - 90 academic hours
In the course of the semester, the students get to know method
of "designing individual article" in the following major
ways: developing concept of the artistic image for article design;
developing skills to design genuine individual article taking
into account utilitarian features and constructive-technological
factors of manufacturing process. Lectures - 18 academic hours.
Practical training - 72 hours.
7th Semester - 90 academic hours
In the course of the semester students get to know the methods
of complex design (designing a complex object).
The method includes the issue of systems approach towards the
process of creating an article. The following subject matters
become significant on this level: assignments related to designing
means of transportation, mechanical engineering products, office
supplies, universal kitchen appliances, etc. Lectures - 18 academic
hours. Practical training course - 72 hours.
Pre-Project Analysis
8th Semester. Senior Lecturer: I.A. Yurchenko
The main goal of the course is to teach students to find systematic
solutions of the problem of analyzing pre-project situation. Setting-up
project goals can be done in two ways. The first way is related
to the methods of evaluating the situation and finding sources
for creating either a unique shape of an article or basic functional
diagram. The second way is associated with restructuring different
sides, links and factors of article imperfection; identifying
means and methods of alteration and eliminating deficiency by
means of design. Those issues are investigated by means of retrospective
modeling. Analyzing prototypes and analogs and setting-up project
goals based on analysis is the most rife method of retrospective
modeling.
Painting
The main goal of the course is to teach students to acquire practical
skills using the main features of colors. The complex practical
training course includes the following assignments:
- In the 1st year students master the techniques of drawing with
limited color palette; study interrelation of light, shadows and
colors; study fundamentals of reproducing shapes by means of colors
and tones; exercise to use different color spectrums.
- In the 2nd year students practice contrast and shade combinations
of color spots, draw complicate still life pieces taking into
account materiality, complicated plastic combination of shapes
and color spots.
- In the 3rd and 4lh years students master techniques of drawing
life human model.
Total number of hours:
1st year - 144 academic hours, 2nd year - 224 academic hours,
3rd year - 180 academic hours, 4th year - 184 academic hours.
Sculpture
The main goal of this course is to develop 3-D-spatial way of
thinking. Through tactile perception, the students learn to perceive
volume, its plastics and depth; becomes familiar with materials'
tectonic properties and characteristic shapes. Taking into account
3-D perception of the volumetric shape, the student is required
to create an integral shape, adapting it from different points
of view. Complex practical training course includes assignments
related to relief and 3-D outlines.
In the 1st year the students study fundamentals of sculpture plastics,
learn to work with simple geometric figures, study relief representation
patterns. Total number of academic hours in the 1st year of study
- 124 hours. The 2nd year of study includes introduction into
the patterns of building 3-D shapes, concepts of creative interpretation
of realistic shapes into abstract-associative. Total number of
academic hours in the 2nd year of study - 138 hours.
Drawing
In the course of studies students learn fundamentals of pattern
drawing, patterns and methods of building shapes; learn to draw
spatial patterns of shapes, to accurately reproduce connections
between shapes or their components, to reproduce constructive-plastic
peculiarities and materiality of building forms on plane. Besides,
the students learn to reproduce shapes from memory and imagination,
apply different techniques of drawing combined with different
materials. The acquired skills are very important for completing
design assignments (choosing graphic media for project design,
quality and performance).
1st year of studies
The main subject of studies is human head: patterns of its constructive-plastic
built, reproducing in different positions, rendering proportions,
reproducing different shapes and spatial patterns, shade reproduction
of shapes. Total number of academic hours - 160 hours,
2nd year of studies
Students continue to study patterns of drawing from the life model
and master means of reproduction. The emphasis is made on the
constructive analysis of specific shape. The subject of study
is human body, interior, still life, landscape (optional_. Total
number of academic hours - 192 hours.
3rd year of studies
The students continue to master drawing human body in more complicated
position. Major assignments - to study the structure of built,
reproduce human body in motion by means of laconic media reproducing
the plastics of human body.
Positions: naked and dressed body in sitting posture, portrait
with arms; drawing fabric wrinkles, dressed human body against
interior background, sketches of animal world, groups of people,
objects. Total number of academic hours - 194 hours.
4th year of studies
The emphasis is made on mastering the skills in spatial reproduction
of shapes in complicated positions, analyzing the structure, fitting
position into the page, combining parts with big shapes with the
center of composition, drawing life sketches, sketches from memory
and imagination. Total number of academic hours - 138 hours.
